Trump’s Cuts: Unconstitutional and Dangerous for Jews

Yesterday, after a week of unmitigated chaos and confusion, Donald Trump suspended all federal grants and loans. These cuts could impact nearly every American and will impact Jewish Americans by freezing vital security assistance for Jewish institutions and synagogues. 

While the Trump administration rescinded its memo on the order, his administration has made it clear that they still plan to cut critical programs like Medicaid that Americans depend on. We have more work to do.

FIGHT BACK AGAINST TRUMP’S UNCONSTITUTIONAL CUTS

Donald Trump has put the health, safety, and well-being of Americans at risk by making catastrophic cuts to health care, food assistance, preschool, and more. This is a blatant unconstitutional attempt by an authoritarian to strip power away from the people and cause chaos and confusion. We won’t sit idly by while Americans suffer. 

His latest attempt to dismantle American democracy and consolidate power could have a far-reaching impact, including on Jewish Americans who rely on the programs he is trying to cut. That includes all of us who rely on nonprofit security grants to provide essential security at our synagogues and Jewish institutions, which is incredibly important given rising antisemitism and Trump’s emboldening of white supremacists.

We know why Trump is doing this – Republicans showed us their plans in Project 2025. Trump wants us to foot the bill for his tax breaks for billionaires. We won’t be silent as Trump continues to throw our country into chaos to the detriment of the American people.
